Candy Cane Christmas Chapstick Holder Tutorial

I have a tutorial for you today in response to the Wicked Chapped Lips Chapstick holder from last week.  Lots of people asked how to make one, so I made a Christmas Chapstick holder tutorial.  It's been a busy week for me, so this is short and sweet.  First, here is the finished chapstick holder:

Here is the basic template. I chose a Christmas theme, but this can be changed to whatever you choose.

The base of the holder is 5 3/4" x 3 1/2".  You score at 2 1/2" and 3 1/4" .

Once you have scored the paper, fold the cardstock so the top layer hangs over the bottom, and then cut two slits in the middle up to the other score line.  I measure in 1 1/2" from each end to get it perfectly centered.  Once you have your cuts made, push the the cut area inside and form a book with a holder for the chapstick as pictured below.

You now have your basic design which you can decorate.  Here are your measurements for the layers:
- Garden Green CS layer is 3 1/4" x 2 1/4"
- DSP layer is 3" x 2"
- chapstick cover is DSP and measures 2 1/4" x 1 7/8" (this may vary, I used Avon chapstick)

I added the santa from Sparkly and Bright and then punched a hole with my crop-a-dile so I could add satin ribbon to close the holder.  On the inside it has the chapstick (attached to the holder with a glue dot to keep it from slipping) and a message saying "A gift for you" which I used from the Punch Pals stamp set.  I wan't able to get a picture of the inside, my 13 month old woke up too soon!   I'll get a picture of the inside posted tomorrow as I have a couple dozen of these that I am making for the upcoming festival I have in October.

Once I get out of serious assembly line mode for the festival, I will have lots more to share.  I am taking pictures of all the items I will be selling and will post about all of them at some point.  For those of you in the local area (southwest Ohio), the Cider Festival is at the Hidden Valley Fruit Farm on October 2nd and 3rd from 10am -6pm.  If you need further info, you can e-mail me or leave a comment for me and I'll get back to you in further detail.

I hope you liked this quick little tutorial.  If you'd like to make your own chapstick holder and need supplies, you can purchase them on my Stampin' Up! website.

If it doesn't move..stamp it!
