Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop: All About Vellum!

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Bog Hop!!  All during May we are featuring different techniques and this week is all about vellum!

You should be arriving from Mary Brown's amazing blog Stamper Camper's Corner, wasn't her card wonderful??!!  If you are just starting out here, welcome and enjoy the ride!  Be sure to stop at each blog to check out all of the cool cards we have for you today.

I personally love vellum, can you guess why??  Let me show you my card, let's see if you were right.......

If you guessed SHAKER card then woo hoo for you!  Anyone who has visited my blog knows that shaker cards are my very favorite style and what is better than a shaker card that is easy to mail!!  That's where my friend VELLUM comes in.  It provides a great window for my shaker and makes it quick and easy to put together.

I saw this card in my head as soon as I got Sprinkles of Love in my hot little hands.  The Cherry on Top Designer Paper Stack is a perfect match with it's cute little donut paper.

Are you wondering if I spent hours fussy cutting all these little donuts...well the answer (thankfully!) is NO!  I found that the smallest circle from the Circle Framelits fits the little donuts to a T!

Since I didn't have to fussy cut, I loaded up my card with donuts in the shaker along with ...you guessed it.....SEQUINS!  The fun striped washi tape that enclosed the shaker is from the Cherry on Top Washi Designer Tape set....a perfect match of course to the designer paper.  Be sure to add FAST FUSE to the vellum to adhere it to the cardstock before adding the washi.  I have found that the washi tape alone is not enough and will come loose....trust me on this one!!!

Now it's time to hop on over to Debbie Henderson's beautiful blog Debbie's Designs to see what fabulous idea she's come up with this week!!

Chalkboard Wishes

The new catalog is just one week away, I hope you've been enjoying all of the samples with upcoming stamp sets!  Today's card features Friendly Wishes, a great new set of bold sentiments.

I used the sketch from Try Stampin' -or not- on Tuesday for my inspiration.

Starting out, I knew I wanted to go with the chalkboard look, so I chose bold colors including black.

This card has a little bit of everything!  Designer paper, washi tape and sequins (of course!)  I love Bermuda Bay with Basic Black so I started there.  The striped paper I picked is from Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper in the Occasions Catalog.  It and the chalkboard paper I used are only here for one more week, so get some before they're gone!

The sentiment is Whisper White craft ink on a banner die cut from chalkboard paper.  As I've said before LET. IT. DRY. WELL.  I stamped this first and let is sit while I worked on the rest of the card, then I let it sit some more just to be sure!!

To add in the stripes per the sketch without overwhelming the design, I went with washi tape.  It adds color but the stripes from the designer paper still peek through.  This particular washi tape belongs to the new Cherry on Top Designer Washi Tape set.

Last element, and my favorite is SEQUINS!  I cheated a little and used the retired Frosted Sequins from the Holiday Catalog.  I love the giant silver sequins in this set, they are awesome!  And guess what!  They are actually on the Clearance Rack right now so run and get them if you are a sequin lover like me!!

Alright, now it's up to you to turn a little inspiration into a gorgeous card.  Why not give this week's sketch a try with me??  Just hop on over to Try Stampin' to get all the details and see more great samples from the Design Team.

Thanks for hanging out with me today and Happy Stamping!

Lots of Sprinkles!

Have I told you yet that I can't get enough of Sprinkles of Life??  I'm sure I have and I hope you're not tired of seeing me work with this set!  I went the clean and simple route with a few of my favorite colors to create a very sweet card for my friend.

This particular sentiment from the set is my favorite!  What could be cooler than being called the sprinkles on the cupcake of life??  I don't know, because nothing is better than sprinkles!  My inspiration came from the way cool sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, check it out.

I looked at this sketch and immediately saw a cupcake in place of the butterfly and knew Sprinkles of Life would be the set to go with.

Let's look at the colors I used, there's old and new.

I am already obsessed with the combo of Bermuda Bay and Pool Party.  But add in the new Watermelon Wonder and Tip Top Taupe then you really have a GORGEOUS set of colors!

This card came together easily.   I used Bermuda Bay washi tape from the Cherry on Top washi tape set to create the stripe in the background.  A simple oval for the sentiment and a fun cupcake make up the rest of the design.  I added in lots of sprinkles in Bermuda Bay and Pool Party to dress things up a bit.  And as always, I added in a few sequins.....can't have Bermuda Bay on a card and not add in the matching sequins!

I also sprinkled the envelope and the inside of the card.   That little stamp is so much fun that I wanted to add sprinkles to everything!

Alright, that's it for me today.  See you on Tuesday, I have a card featuring Friendly Wishes to share!

Happy Stamping!

Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop: Fun Backgrounds!

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Bog Hop!! All during May we are featuring different techniques and this week is all about fun backgrounds with decorative masks and embossing folders.

You should be arriving from Mary Brown's amazing blog Stamper Camper's Corner, wasn't her card wonderful??!!  If you are just starting out here, welcome and enjoy the ride!  Be sure to stop at all the blogs to check out all of the cool cards we have for you today.

I love using decorative masks and embossing folders on my cards.  They give you so many options and are super affordable..... you can't go wrong!   How about two unique ways to use these great products??

Let's jump right in and take a closer look at the first card featuring the Happy Heart embossing folder.

Did you know that you can do more than just add texture with these little gems??  You can add INK too!  Just tap your ink pad lightly over the embossing folder on the RAISED side then tuck your paper inside and press down gently.  I love this not-so-perfect look, it adds a lot of character to your cards!

The rest of the card pretty simple.  I partially stamped a sentiment from Lovely Amazing you on a Melon Mambo heart.  To finish the sentiment, the word "you" in silver foil paper is stapled underneath.  A couple of fun extras - doily, silver ribbon and banners - and my card is done!

Ok...on to the next look using the Hearts decorative mask.

Instead of sponging on color, I drew in the hearts with my Stampin' Write marker.  Just use the fine point to trace in the heart then draw quick lines diagonally.  I didn't pay too much attention the the lines, it has a fun doodled look when they aren't perfect.

Like the first card, I kept the embellishments simple.  A bit of doily, silver ribbon, a silver foil heart and a strip of Melon Mambo hearts are tucked behind the sentiment.

Now, lets hop on over to Debbie Henderson's beautiful blog Debbie's Designs to see what fabulous idea she's come up with for us!!

By the time you've traveled through I think you'll be ready to pull out your embossing folders and decorative masks and try out these great techniques!  Thanks for hanging out with us again this week!  See you next time!
