A Soft and Subtle Easter

Today's share is a card that kind of made itself.  I had an idea of what I wanted, then it turned out completely different.  I absolutely love this card though, and love that it just kind of "happened"!

I had originally planned to use the embossing folder then add a few pearls to the design, a flower and an Easter Greeting.  Well, I ended up with something a bit different.  I wanted to try the whitewashing look that I've seen on idea boards so I just started out with flowers.  I used Almost Amethyst, a retired color, because it is a beautiful soft color for Easter.  When I tried putting just pearls and and the flower and greeting it was too plain for me.  The doilies were sitting on my desk so I thought, leaves, flower, doily!   I even ended up stamping the greeting on the doily, seemed like the only good place to put it.  The flower was fun to experiment with.  I embossed in white on Crumb Cake.  I painted the flower with StazOn white ink refill since I didn't have any white craft ink refill on hand.  I had to paint it a couple times to get the whiter look, the first coat just looked a bit glossy but not white.  I used an aqua painter with Lovely Lilac ink and painted the petals for the soft look.  This was a really fun look to try, I will definitely be trying out other colors and designs.

This close up shows the layering of colors.  I added in the leaves and a greeting on the doily.  I also took my aqua painter and added a little color around the edges of the doily.  Kind of hard to see in the picture, but it added a nice touch.
