What a fun sketch! I actually altered my card to be vertical as I prefer them. Take a look.
This was such a fun card to make, Rev Up the Fun set is so easy to work with. I kept with the sketch, just centered the focal point instead of having it off center. Here' what I did.
1. Picked out Crumb Cake as my card base. Also picked out my other colors, Basic Black and Polka Dot Parade DSP.
2. Cut the DSP and decided on what to do for the scalloped part of the sketch. Since I am doing a masculine card, I decided against scallops and tried something new. I took my hexagon punch and punched out three Basic Black hexagons. I cut them in half and adhered them to the bottom of my DSP. Here's a look.
I also liked that the angular look of my border matches the banners sharp angles. I put sticky strip along the bottom of the DSP then added the half pieces of hexagons, slightly overlapping them to create the proper spacing.
3. I added a slender strip of Basic Black to the top of the DSP then adhered it to the card base.
4. I cut a banner from Basic Black and used the Hexagon Punch to make the banner ends.
5. I stamped the car from Rev Up the Fun with Real Red on Whisper White. Stamped Rev Up the Fun underneath the car. I put scotch tape over the Happy Birthday part to keep the ink off, just peel off the tape before stamping. Then I die cut the image with a framelit from Apothecary Accents.
6. Adhered the Basic Black Banner to the center of the DSP. Adhered the car over the banner.
7. Final touches- Added Real Red Candy Dots to the ends of the Whisper White die cut. Stamped Happy Birthday on the bottom of the card in StazOn Black.
That's it! Fun and easy!! I made a second card at the same time. I try to do two of everything so I have one to sell at the bookstore and 1 for personal use. The second card I used You're My Hero as the stamp set. Take a look.
Isn't that cute!! I stamped weeeooo-weeeooo behind the police car and used the Happy Birthday at the bottom. Same look as the first card except this one is geared towards little boys.
I had such a good time with these cards! A great sketch to work with. You can participate too. Just go to Create with Connie and Mary. There you can find out all the details and link up your card. While you are there, check out the Summer Collection 2013 preview projects and sign up for the session. There are amazing projects, my 3D project was featured this week, it was so much fun to design!
Thanks for stopping, come back tomorrow for a fun 3D project I'm working on. Have a great weekend!
If it doesn't move...stamp it!!
