Candy Cane Treats

I've got a quick treat for you today that is easy and FUN!  It also gives another use for the MINI TREAT BAG THINLIT.

half size mini treat bags becreativewithnicole

I told you these were fun!  This is a great way to give a small gift to teachers, mail carriers, etc.

I used the smaller die from the treat bag and cut out two to adhere together to create the pocket for the candy cane.  To make it a little fancier, I cut a 2" x 6" piece of Whisper White and punched a tag at the top with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.

This long tag is a great place to write "to and from" for your gift.  It also secures the candy cane in the pocket.  I used a couple of glue dots to adhere the candy cane to the tag and added gold ribbon to the top.

If you are looking for a treat idea, this is the way to go!  There are so many ways to embellish and lots of great designer paper patterns to choose from!

Reason for the Season Wine Tags

Wine bottle tags are perfect for this time of year.  They are quick to make and dress up a wine bottle for easy gift giving.  Earlier in the week I shared a set of tags made with COZY CHRISTMAS.  Today I'm back with a set made with REASON FOR THE SEASON.

Reason for the Season Tags

Like the previous tags, I varied the designs using the same elements.

tags by becreativewithnicole.com

Each tag has a musical background from HOME FOR CHRISTMAS designer paper.  A little gold glimmer and poinsettias give the tags a festive feel.

tag by becreativewithnicole

The poinsettias are all fussy cut and have a pearl in the center.  They are popped up with dimensionals over the sentiments.  I stamped the outline with archival black to give a bold outline so they really stand out.

Usually I have a favorite, but I can't pick one from these tags....I love them all!  To make your own, just check out the first post where I gave the basic instructions.  I hope you'll give these festive tags a try!

Reason for the Season

I'm going clean and simple today with REASON FOR THE SEASON.  I was looking to make a card that would be easy to replicate for my holiday cards to send out this year.  I think this one will fit the bill, elegant yet simple.

Reason for the Season becreativewithnicole.com

The color for the card base is a a fun twist, gray isn't usually a color that ends up in my holiday cards, but I think it really works!  Guess where I got the idea....

CCMC384

Yep, the Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge!  I love the idea of using unusual colors for holiday cards, so this was a great opportunity to take advantage of that.

poinsettia

The Smokey Slate base gives the poinsettia a chance to really stand out. After I stamped the flower outline and extra color for the petals, I added more color with my blender pen and ink pad.  I love how the shading is with the combo of the two.

Reason for the Season

I also added a little texture with the Gently Falling embossing folder.  I love the contrast with the crisp white circle and black ink sentiment.  Now I just need to make about 20 more and fill them all out to mail!

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are featuring Christmas cards using traditional RED AND GREEN.

For a card with traditional colors I went immediately to Reason for the Season.

Reason for the Season becreativewithnicole.com

You think I did enough red and green?!  I have lots going on with this card.  Not only does it have embossing and designer paper, it has a special fold!

Reason for the Season Easel Card becreativewithnicole.com

Yep, it's an easel card so the recipient can show it off after you send it.  And it mails easily so you can WOW whomever you choose!

Reason for the season easel card

Only two colors of ink were needed, Mossy Meadow and Cherry Cobbler.   A few pearls and the card is done.  The longest part of the process was fussy cutting the flowers, but they really didn't take much time at all!

sentiment

I added in a sentiment from Holly Jolly Greetings to prop up the front.  I love this set, the greetings can be used in so many ways!

Festive Flower Punch

I love making the most of my stamps and punches, that includes using them for things other than their intention.  Today I am going to show you that the FESTIVE FLOWER PUNCH is for more than just poinsettias.

flower punch by becreativewithnicole.com

How about a sunflower style card!  I went with colors and a look that is perfect for the end of summer and early fall.  The flower is built with Hello Honey petals and Mossy Meadow leaves.  But the Early Espresso center is what really gives it the look of a sunflower.

Hello Honey Flower

The leaves are stamped with Mossy Meadow veins to help bring the flower to life.  And the petals have light sponging along the edges which gives them more depth.

Here's a video from Stampin' Up! showing how to assemble the flower.  I used the same amount of petals for my sunflower.

The flower comes together quickly!  I found that giving too much dimension to the petals made it hard to glue them in place, so I tried to keep the gluing ends a little flatter.

Hello Honey flower by becreativewithnicole.com

Now that we've talked about the flower, what about the rest of the card?  The card base in Soft Suede has a layer of INTO THE WOODS Designer Paper  which I think makes a perfect background.  This wood grain design is my favorite paper in the set, I wish I had a whole pack of it alone!  With the flower taking up a great bit of the card, I kept the sentiment simple.  I looked to ENDLESS THANKS for the banner and "thanks".  And of course sequins were a must, a few in gold gave the finishing touch!

Reason for the Season Bundle

Give the REASON FOR THE SEASON BUNDLE a second look, you can use it in so many ways!  I have already done two cards with the stamp set to show alternate uses, you can find them HERE and HERE.

Happy Poinsettia

I went outside the box again with REASON FOR THE SEASON and did a wedding card to show this set isn't just for Christmas!

Happy Poinsettia by becreativewithnicole.com

Isn't this pretty in pinks and coral!  I was inspired by the color challenge this week at Create with Connie and Mary.

CCMC374

A floral card was the first thought I had when seeing these colors.  So I went back to REASON FOR THE SEASON to see how the colors worked on the poinsettia.

poinsettia

I ended up doing the outline of the flower in Watermelon Wonder and added color to the petals with Calypso Coral stamped off once.  Blushing Bride made a lovely background with the Watercolor Wash background stamp.

Reason for the Season by becreativewithnicole.com

Since we have Blushing Bride sequins, I had to add a few in plus a bit of gold thread.  I think they added the finishing touch the card needed.  As far as the greeting goes, I went with my favorite set for sentiments, COTTAGE GREETINGS in Watermelon Wonder.  I love the end result, a very pretty wedding card!  So now you have TWO card ideas from me to use REASON FOR THE SEASON for something other than Christmas!  If you don't remember the first, you can check it out HERE.

Reason for the Fall Season

I have a feeling that REASON FOR THE SEASON is going to be a favorite set of mine for Christmas.  But I'm not really ready to jump full force into Christmas cards.  So I thought I'd do a fall inspired card to show you this set is not just for Christmas!

Fall Reason for the Season by becreativewithnicole.com.jpg

Doesn't this remind you a little of sunflowers??  That's the direction I was going in with my colors.  I want fall inspired colors that have mellow tones.  The background is done in Sahara Sand with the WATERCOLOR WASH background stamp.  To see how I stamp backgrounds, check out this post with PDF instructions

Fall flower by becreativewithnicole.com.jpg

The flower is a layering of three stamps.  The first layer is the outline stamped with Crumb Cake.  Next, I added in the leaves with another stamp in Pear Pizzaz and the flower petals with another stamp in Hello Honey.  The layering process gives so much dimension and life to the flower!

Fall Reason for the Season

I added in a couple of gold details, some thread behind the flower and sequins.  I love the little bit of warm sparkle!  And for the sentiment, I went with COTTAGE GREETINGS, since I so love this font!

If you'd like to receive this card from me in the mail, just place an order in my online store.  This is my September card for customers, I appreciate your orders and like to say thank you with a hand stamped card!  You can click HERE to go to my online store and shop for your favorite products!
