Fond Farewell

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are featuring stamps that are RETIRING.

SpringBlogHopBadge

I actually had to sit and think for awhile before deciding on a stamp set to use.  Sometimes having so many options can be daunting!  In the end I chose a set that has a fantastic bold greeting, HELLO LIFE.

Hello Life becreativewithnicole

I embossed the sentiment in white to pop against the Basic Black cardstock.  This boldness is quite a contrast from the soft watercolor background that I made.

Hello Life

The soft background was simple to make.  A piece of watercolor paper and a bit of ink was all it took.  I used the new In Colors Dapper Denim and Flirty Flamingo with Rich Razzleberry.  The Aqua Painter made it super easy, it has become one of my best loved tools!

Hello Life inside

I also added a bit of stamping inside the card.  I love the smaller sentiments just as much as the bold one!  I used each of the three colors from the watercolor on the front to tie it all together.

Hello Life Watercolor

Ok....I have a confession.....I am TOTALLY addicted to WATERCOLOR!  BIRTHDAY BLOOMS started the addiction for sure, it's so beautiful to color.  So, today I have yet another watercolor card, but this time I used a combination of HELLO LIFE and BIRTHDAY BLOOMS.

Hello Life becreativewithnicole

The subtle background was made from the hearts border in BIRTHDAY BLOOMS and a bit of Bermuda Bay ink with an aqua painter.  The hearts are embossed in white to resist the color.

Happy close up

I went bold with the sentiment which is heat embossed in white as well.  To make it stand out, Melon Mambo was washed over with the aqua painter after a light coat of Blushing Bride.  You can see a little of the color variation around the edges.

I added a little bit of doily and ribbon under the sentiment and sprinkled in a couple of hearts and a sequin.  I really love the softer look of such bold colors!

For those of you afraid to give watercolor a try, just GO.FOR.IT.  It's so much fun smearing ink across the paper and very therapeutic!

Beautiful Ride Valentine

I'm going to take a break today from Birthday Blooms and share a Valentine I made for the Creative Crew on Splitcoaststampers.

Beautiful Ride Valentine becreativewithnicole

Isn't this fun!  I combined the cute couple from BEAUTIFUL RIDE with HELLO LIFE and the gorgeous HAVE A CUPPA designer paper.

Beautiful Ride Valentine

This was SO easy to put together.  A couple strips of designer paper and a little stamping is all it took.  I cut out a couple of the hearts from the dsp to scatter over the card and added a sequin or two.

More Watermelon Wonder!

I actually made two WATERMELON WONDER cards for the CCM Saturday Blog Hop but only shared one yesterday.  Today I want to show you the other one that features HELLO LIFE.

Hello Life Watermelon Wonder Card

I still have quite a bit of this AWESOME Hello Life Kit left and thought that black and white would really make the WATERMELON WONDER pop!

Hello Life heart

It all came together quickly since I used pieces from the kit that were ready to go!  I cut down the Smokey Slate chevron paper to fit a card front then added a couple of fun banners.  The heart was quick and easy with a simple sentiment.

Hello Life Heart with Silver accents

A bit of Silver Metallic thread behind the heart and silver sequins add a nice finishing touch.

Hello Life inside of card

Inside a simple sentiment from Friendly Wishes in Watermelon Wonder coordinates beautifully!

I love how the Watermelon Wonder stands out from the black.....what do you think??

Shake it Up!

I have something to confess to you.....I am a shaker card addict!  I love seeing the little bits of paper and sequins float around, it just makes me smile!  It's been waaaaayyyyyy too long since I've made any, so this week you will be seeing two!  Today's shaker is for the sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.

The creative process started by pulling out the products I wanted to try out, namely the Hello Life Project Kit.  I've had it sitting on my desk for a good week and here was a good opportunity to play a little.  As you know, I LOVE to use kits for things other than intended.  This card definitely falls under that description!

Coastal Cabana is probably my most favorite color and it's going to be leaving us soon, so I figured I better use it while I can!  Using it is as a base with the bold black and white stripes really makes this card stand out.  The Happy Heart embossing folder goes nicely with the heart shaker set that came in the kit.

Inside the shaker are two of the sentiments from Hello Life.  I love the contrast of the curvy sentiment in Coastal Cabana with the typed sentiment in black.  The confetti is made up of the silver foil hearts in the kit, Bermuda Bay sequins, and Coastal Cabana hearts punched with the Hearts Border Punch.

A banner from chalkboard paper with a heart stamped in White Craft ink is a perfect finishing touch along with a few extra sequins.  I actually made a bit of a boo-boo.  I didn't let the ink on the banner dry completely and it smeared a little on the end.  Instead of starting over, I popped a sequin over top and the boo-boo disappeared....woo hoo!

Lastly, here's a quick peek at the inside.  The large bold sentiment was a perfect end to this card!

Be sure to check back with me on Tuesday for the second shaker card that features the March My Paper Pumpkin!  Until then, Happy Stamping!
