Swing on a Star

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we have a really fun theme, SWING ON A STAR.

All of our projects will have something to do with stars.  I actually have 2 cards to share today featuring the SHOOTING STAR BUNDLE!  I has so much fun with this technique that I had to make more than one!

Shooting Star becreativewithnicole.com

Now you can see why one wasn't enough!  I has way too much fun with this technique that I learned from Wendy Cranford.  I had to change up the last bit of the process a little to use only Stampin' Up! and it worked beautifully!

Shooting Star Galaxy Technique

This first card features the slider die cut where the star can shoot across the sky.  The galaxy watercolor technique makes the background so realistic!  I used watercolor paper (can you believe this was a pure white piece of paper!) and added LOTS of color!  The star was also done on watercolor paper so the colors would blend and look as beautiful as the galaxy background.

Knowing full well that one card would not be enough, I made a WHOLE PAGE of this background!  Yep I just did a whole page that I could cut up into the sizes I needed.  A much more efficient way to go about making this type of card.  For this second card, I went with the spinner die cut and sent the world round and round!

So now I would love to know what you think!  Do you love this technique as much as I do??  Would you like a tutorial??  Please leave me a comment with your opinion, I'd love to know what you think :)  ****I added a tutorial, thank you for all the comments!  Click HERE.

Dapper Denim

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  We are down to featuring the last of the new In Colors this week, DAPPER DENIM.

I went through all my new stamp sets and thought about the best way to showcase this fantastic new color.  In the end, I ended up with a clean and simple card featuring PLACES YOU'LL GO.

Places You'll Go by becreativewithnicole.com

As you can see, DAPPER DENIM takes center stage on this card.

Places You'll Go

The globe was so fun to create, it's a little different from the rest of the card since it's done on watercolor paper.  I love the contrast of it against the crisp regular cardstock.  If you don't have (and use) an aqua painter, you must get one!  This is such a valuable tool!!!  It makes watercolor so easy!  After heat embossing the globe in white, I added color to the globe with the aqua painter being heavy handed in some areas to add a deeper shade of blue.  Once it was completely dry, I fussy cut the globe, added silver thread and popped it up on dimensionals.

In keeping with the crisp, clean look I kept the background to a minimum by adding just a few stars and a simple sentiment.  If you haven't given this set a good look, go back and check it out!  The sentiments are fantastic and useful with many other stamp sets.

How about a supply list so you can create your own PLACES YOU'LL GO CARD..........

Places You'll Go

I've been diving head first into all the supplies I just got from the NEW catalog and loving every minute!  I have a simple watercolor card to share today with a fun little set called PLACES YOU'LL GO.

Places You'll Go becreativewithnicole

I used watercolor color paper and heat embossed the globe stand in black.  I added a wash of Island Indigo to the paper before adding in the globe itself.

The globe is heat embossed in white so both it and the colors would stand out against the black stand. Island Indigo and Emerald Envy made the globe come to life. These two colors work well together for a realistic look.

Keeping with a simple layout, the sentiment was added neatly to the bottom of the card.  I really love all the sentiments in the set, there are lots of other stamp sets that these will go with!

I hope you enjoyed seeing a sample with NEW PRODUCTS, I have more in store for you tomorrow.  Be sure to come back for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop, we have fabulous new ideas to share!!
