Hexagons for Summer

Today I'd like to share a hexagon card I made yesterday.  I have been trying to use different color combinations lately instead of my usual go to colors.  Grays have been a new favorite lately, so I tried a couple new colors that you may not expect with gray.

I combined Smokey Slate with Pool Party and Strawberry Slush.  The gingham hexagons in Strawberry Slush made me think of a picnic as I was making this card.  Definitely a new color combo for me!

 He's what I did:

1.  Decided on a card base using Strawberry Slush.  Added a layer of Pool Party.

2.  Used Whisper White as the next layer and instead of stamping the hexagons on, I chose to stamp on a separate piece and punch them out.  This gave me the chance to put them on the card and move them around to figure out my design.  Adhered them using SNAIL.

3.  Card needed something more, so I added in Strawberry Slush flowers using the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  Added a pearl to the center of each.

4.  Greeting needed to be something small, so I went with Petite Pairs.  Stamped one on each side of the card using Basic Gray Ink.

5.  Still needed something, so I took a piece of card stock to use as a straight edge and added a thin line around the design with my retired Going Gray marker.

That's it!  A new color combo for me that looks a bit like a summer picnic!  Hope you enjoyed the new take on hexagons!  Check back tomorrow for the hexagon card I made for the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.  I went in another direction with that one, more vintage looking.
Enjoy your day!

More Hexagons!

Well everybody, I am officially into Hexagons!  I am loving the new Six-Sided Sampler Bundle!  Here's the latest card I've done.

This card was inspired by a fabric that my Mom bought for Baby Samuel's new blanket.  The colors were grays and greens.  I loved the way the colors looked so I translated them into this card using a pattern of hexagons.

The colors are Basic Gray, Smokey Slate and Pistachio Pudding.  The pattern is pretty easy to free hand when using clear mount stamps.  I lined up the edge of the stamp with the edge of the previous hexagon and it leaves a nice even space in between.  The little extra touch was flowers from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  I decided on birthday for the greeting and used the wonderful new hostess set Express Yourself.  I stamped Happy Birthday with Basic Gray and die cut it with the largest banner from Bitty Banners Framelits.  I love how this turned out, gray is my new favorite color!

Hexagons for TSSC270

Monday's here already, the weekend went fast!  It's time for another Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.  Mary Jo has another fun sketch for us this week, take a look.

I worked with the new Six-Sided Sampler over the weekend, so I used it for today's sketch challenge card.

Along with using hexagons lately, I have also been trying to do more masculine cards, so this card reflects that.  I used two of the new In Colors, Baked Brown Sugar and Pistachio Pudding.  Other products used for this card are the Honeycomb EF and Crumb Cake Taffeta ribbon.

Here's a closer look at the focal point of the card.  The Whisper White has a pattern of hexagons stamped in Pistachio Pudding.  I just free hand stamped since I have the clear mount set and can see where I am placing the images.  The last hexagon is stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White in Baked Brown Sugar with the greeting in Pistachio Pudding.  I punched this hexagon out and adhered it with a dimensional.  This card definitely has a more masculine feel from the colors and patterns.  I have another hexagon card to share tomorrow, so please stop back!

Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana Mosaics

I am sorry to say that I don't have a flashback share for today :(  It's been a busy week with Vacation Bible School, so I didn't get a chance to do my usual flashback card.  Check back next week and I'll have one for you!  Instead I will be sharing a Mosaic Madness card I made last week.

I have already said it but I'm saying it again, I LOVE THE NEW IN COLORS!  I am so into these colors and how well they go together.  This card uses Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana.  I made a pretty simple card.  The base is Strawberry Slush with a layer of Coastal Cabana.  The Whisper White layer is a simple pattern stamped with the mosaics.  I added rhinestone gems to make the mosaics prettier.  The greeting was simple too.

Make a Wish from Sweet Essentials was stamped in Strawberry Slush and die cut using the Window Framelits.  The Coastal Cabana layer underneath was hand cut so it would be a smaller matting.  More rhinestones added underneath ties in with the mosaic designs.  That's the gist of it!  A simple yet pretty card with the mosaics.  There are just so many ways you can use this set and punch that it is a must have for every stamper!

Thanks so much for visiting!  I will go back to Flashback Friday next week!

Simply Sketched Sympathy Card for TSSC267

Happy Monday!  Time for a new Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.  This week we have yet another great sketch provided to us by Mary Jo, take a look.

I did a simple yet elegant card with this week's sketch using the new hostess set Simply Sketched.

I love that this sketch allowed me to make a card fairly quick.  A few elements and I had an elegant sympathy card.  I started out with a Baked Brown Sugar card base embossed with the Woodgrain EF. I stamped the bird on Glossy CS (boy am I sad about this retiring...) with black StazOn ink.

The image was colored in using a blender pen and ink pad for the lighter areas and markers for the darker shading.  I sponged Baked Brown Sugar ink around the edges of the die cut from the Apothecary Accents set.  The greeting was stamped last below the bird with black StazOn ink.  I added in a stripe of Old Olive CS with the ends cut into banner shapes with the 1" square punch.   And that's it, card complete!  I can see me using this hostess set a lot.  Not only does it have three beautiful images that can be colored in, but it has wonderful greetings.

See it Again Saturday

This week for See it Again Saturday I am doing a re-visit of yesterday's layout.  I really loved the simplicity of it.  So, let's get directly to it!  Here's today's card made with the new hostess set Simply Sketched.

I love all the new In Colors so the card was based on them.  Coastal Cabana is the card base embossed with the new Beautifully Baroque EF.    The banners are all In Colors as well - Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Pistachio Pudding.  I stamped the image and greeting from Simply Sketched with Baked Brown Sugar ink then colored it with my blender pen and ink pads.  The image was die cut using the new circles framelits which I absolutely LOVE!

As a finishing touch, I did paper piercing around the image.  I had to free hand it, there isn't a template with a circle big enough yet.  I am hoping that Stampin' Up! will have new paper piercing templates for all the new framelits coming soon.
Thanks for checking out my card today, hope to see you Monday for the new Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge!

New In Colors!

This year with the new catalog we get new In Colors!!  I am really loving the colors we get this time around, they are gorgeous! I made 3x3 cards for you to see how gorgeous they really are. First up is Strawberry Slush.

For this card, I used a layer of Whisper White embossed with the new Modern Mosaic Embossing folder.  I die cut a piece of the new Quatrefancy Specialty DSP with the Windows Framelits.  I also die cut Whisper White CS and stamped one of the mosaic stamps  with the Strawberry Slush.  The greeting stamp that I placed inside the mosaic is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and it fit perfectly!  I am loving this color, it's really yummy!  Let's move on to Crisp Canteloupe.

For this card, I used several of the Mosaic Madness stamps to create a fun pattern.  I was using clear mount stamps, so I just free handed the stamping.  I added in a greeting using the new hostess set Banner Greetings.  This is a gorgeous color!  Let's check out the next on the list, Pistachio Pudding.

This is another yummy color!  I used the new Mosaic Madness again and made a pattern free hand.  This is my favorite pattern from all the cards I made.  I added a greeting from Banner Greetings again.  A very fun card!  The next color is Coastal Cabana.

This is my favorite new In Color.  I just love it!  Once again for this card I free hand stamped a mosaic pattern.  There are so many design options with the Mosaic Madness set.  You can make your own DSP!  For the greeting, I die cut the smallest Window Framelit then added a greeting from A Round Array that was punched with the 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch.  Now for the last color, Baked Brown Sugar.

Yet another delicious color!  Once again I free hand stamped a mosaic pattern.  I used A Round Array for the greeting punched with the 7/8" Scallop Circle punch.

I had so much fun making all these cards!  The Mosaic Madness set has so many design options.  It is really a fun set to use, a real must have!  And the new In Color Collection is another must have.  I know that I will be using all of these colors a ton in the future.

Thanks for stopping by!  I have a fun 3D project in the works to showcase the Quatrefancy DSP and Mosaic Madness, so be sure to stop back!

Mosaic Madness for TSSC262

It's Monday, so it's time for the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge at Technostamper.  Here's this week's sketch.

I got my pre-order last week and haven't had a chance to use anything yet, so I made my card using the new Mosaic Madness products.

This card is mostly new catalog, except the Secret Garden flowers that I love so much.  The card base is the new Strawberry Slush from the 2013-2015 In Color Collection.  It's embossed with the new Modern Mosaic EF.  I added in a strip of paper from Quatrefancy Specialty DSP as the vertical element.  The horizontal banner shaped piece is Whisper White stamped with the Mosaic Madness using Strawberry Slush.  Then I used the 1" square punch to create the banner on the right side.

I stamped the greeting with Strawberry Slush as well, using the new hostess set Banner Greetings.  The greeting was hand cut then adhered with dimensionals to make it stand out.  The flowers are the last element of the design.  I used Secret Garden flowers embossed in white on Glossy white CS.  They are colored in using an Aqua Painter and Strawberry Slush re-inker.  The leaves are the only extra addition of color to this card, I used the new In Color Pistachio Pudding.  I had so much fun using my new goodies to make this card!  The new catalog is fast approaching...so exciting!!

Shabby vs Clean

Today's share is one card made two ways.  The first being shabby chic the second being crisp and clean.  Which do you like better?  I still can't decide..I like both!!

The card is a simple layout using only one stamp, the greeting.  The base card is Very Vanilla which is embossed with the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  I added some color using the new In Color Calypso Coral (Love it!).  Then I added the focus of the card, the greeting framed with the new Designer Frames Embossing Folders.  I used the oval frame and I just love it!  It works perfectly with the Extra Large Oval Punch.  The finishing touch was a few flowers made with the retired Triple Flower Punch.  Here's closer look at the clean version.

And here's a close up of the shabby version.

Which do you prefer??  I love that it is a beautiful card that you can use for just about anything!  Just change the greeting and you're set for any occasion!

If you'd like to make your own version of this card, you can visit my Demonstrator Business Website HERE and shop for supplies.

Thanks for stopping by!
