Birthday Blooms: Color Me Happy

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are featuring stamps that require coloring.

SpringBlogHopBadge

I’ve gone back to a favorite of mine from the Occasions Catalog, BIRTHDAY BLOOMS.

Birthday Blooms becreativewithnicole

You may have noticed that I added in a couple more favorites, COTTAGE GREETINGS and the COTTAGE GREETINGS CARD KIT.  I am happy to say that COTTAGE GREETINGS is carrying over to the new catalog, but the card kit is not.  It's time for new kits, so I need to use up what I have left of this one!

Birthday Bloom becreativewithnicole.com

I heat embossed the bloom in white on watercolor paper then used an aqua painter to color it in.  I love the combo of Peekaboo Peach and Mossy Meadow, I so hate to see that beautiful green retire!  I fussy cut the flower and added it to the card with dimensionals.  The card itself is all built from supplies in the card kit.  I think the wood paper looks gorgeous with the Peekaboo Peach and Mossy Meadow flower.

Now, let’s get to the good stuff, the supply list!

SUPPLIES:

STAMPS:   Birthday Blooms, Cottage Greetings

Have a Cuppa Thanks

Today I'm combining my favorite set BIRTHDAY BLOOMS with A NICE CUPPA for a shabby chic inspired Thank You card.

Birthday Bloom Thank you

My inspiration came from a new source, the Global Design Project.  This week's challenge #GDP027 was to create a Thank You card.

GDP027 Thank you

As you know, BIRTHDAY BLOOMS is my favorite set right now so it was a no brainer to include it in my design.  But this time is took backstage to the tea cup from the CUPS & KETTLE FRAMELITS.

Cuppa by becreativewithnicole.com

Here you can see the lightly stamped Birthday Blooms flowers on the card base.  I added a doily then the tea cup so it would stand out more.  I went with the shabby chic theme that came from using the beautiful BIRTHDAY BOUQUET DSP.  Every time I look at the beautiful floral patterns in this set of paper I am reminded of my Grammy's house full of antiques and china.

Birthday Bloom Thank you

This card has definitely inspired me to do more with the A NICE CUPPA BUNDLE.  I think it just might be the next favorite of mine!

Bundle of Joy

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week our theme is BUNDLE OF JOY so we are sharing BABY cards.

Lately I have been all about watercolor, so I did a baby card with a mixture of designer paper and watercolor.

Mossy Meadow Buggy

Bold color choice, don't you think?  Mossy Meadow doesn't usually jump to mind when thinking about baby cards, but I think this works!

Buggy

The bold polka dot pattern is a nice contrast to the soft watercolor baby buggy.  To get this soft look, I stamped the image with Mint Macaron first.  Then I added water to it with the aqua painter and layered on Mossy Meadow ink until it had the look I wanted.

Mossy Meadow

The buggy was fussy cut then added to a piece of watercolor paper that had the hearts from BIRTHDAY BLOOMS.  I stamped the hearts in Blushing Bride then added water to soften the images.  Lastly, I added a sentiment from COTTAGE GREETINGS.  This card ended up using 3 different stamp sets to create!

How about the good stuff now....the Supply List so you can make your own watercolor baby card.

SUPPLIES:

STAMPS: Something for Baby, Birthday Blooms, Cottage Greetings

INKS:  Mint Macaron, Mossy Meadow, Blushing Bride

PAPER:  Watercolor paper, Mossy Meadow, Birthday Bouquet

ACCESSORIES:  Aqua Painter, PL Corner Punch, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (flower), Pearls, dimensionals, Tombow multipurpose adhesive, SNAIL, paper snips

Perfectly Artistic Bloom

I have yet another BIRTHDAY BLOOMS card for you today, but this one's a little different.  I used the gorgeous PERFECTLY ARTISTIC designer paper from Sale-a-bration for the bloom.

DSP Birthday Bloom becreativewithnicole

Isn't this fabulous!!  I love the bloom paper pieced with the designer paper, so pretty!  This idea came as a result of one of the challenges for this month's Creative Crew.  We were to use the PERFECTLY ARTISTIC DSP on a thank you card.

Birthday Bloom Perfectly Artistic

To give more life to the blossom, I stamped it on the Whisper White card front then added a paper pieced bloom on top with dimensionals.  I only paper pieced the large blossom and leaves, the smaller leaves and buds were on the card front.

Birthday Bloom with DSP becreativewithnicole.com

Lastly, I added a sentiment from COTTAGE GREETINGS.  This is a perfect match for BIRTHDAY BLOOMS as the font is similar.

Paper piecing this flower was so much fun, I hope you'll give it a try for yourself!

Flowering Fields

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are all about VELLUM.

Vellum is a very versatile material to work with.  I use it for shakers, stamping and embellishment.  For today's card, I used it to stamp a field of flowers.

Flowering Fields becreativewithnicole.com

I love the soft background the vellum gives to the flowers.

vellum flowers

The main reasons I wanted to stamp the flowers on vellum was the ability to color them beautifully with markers.  The surface lets the marker glide and add bright color without streaking.  Just make sure you let your initial outline stamping dry before adding color, then allow that to dry as well!  Trust me, your finger prints will be all over this if you don't!!

Paper Pumpkin Thank You

I needed a thank you card, so I sat down with the November My Paper Pumpkin to see what I could come up with.

Paper Pumpkin Thank you by becreativewithnicole.com

The Winter Wonderland Vellum Stack was out on my desk, so I pulled a couple of designs out and looked to see what might fit with the kit supplies.  The gold pine cone design turned out to be a beautiful overlay for the neutral card base.

MPP Thanks

For the sentiment, I looked to my favorite set Cottage Greetings.  The "thanks" fit just right in the polka dot square from the kit.  I added a Cherry Cobbler matting by cutting down the one they provided.

November MPP becreativewithnicole.com

I did a little embellishing as well.  A bit of gold cording behind the sentiment plus a few sprigs of holly.  They added a bit more color and interest.

If you missed the first card alternative, click HERE to check it out.  I'll be working on some more ideas for you this week so be sure to stop back!  If you haven't tried out My Paper Pumpkin, what's holding you back?  Give it a shot, it's so nice to have a little surprise in the mail once a month!

Birthday Bear

Have I told you how much I love THANKFUL FOREST FRIENDS??  It's such a great set with two greetings and several cute little animals, the bear being my favorite!  So, today I thought I'd show you another way of using it and made a birthday card.

Birthday Bear by becreativewithnicole.com

Isn't this sweet!  I think this is a perfect card for someone with a fall birthday.

bear birthday

I kept the design pretty clean.  The sentiment from COTTAGE GREETINGS fit just right between two of the vines from THANKFUL FOREST FRIENDS.  I used markers to color them both in.  This was a great way to add color, but it also helped with the bottom vine that was part of the "Give Thanks" stamp.  I was able to isolate the portion I wanted.

Thankful forest friends

Birthday Bear becreativewithnicole.com

The sweet bear was stamped with Soft Suede and fussy cut so I could pop him up with dimensionals.  I also added in a bit of washi tape (from Season of Cheer Designer Washi) and a couple gold sequins.  Turned out to be a simple yet very lovely fall birthday card!

I also created cards with this wonderful set for the upcoming October Mini Session from Create with Connie and Mary.  The session opens October 11th and is chock full of great holiday ideas!  This month I have a card tutorial for you with THANKFUL FOREST FRIENDS that I know you will love.  Here's a sneak peek of the 5 projects.

Can't Resist Me!

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  Bet you are wondering what's in store after seeing the unique title for today's post.  Well, how about a little COLOR RESIST technique?!

BLOG HOP BADGE MAIN

You should be arriving from Mary Brown’s fabulous blog, wasn’t her idea amazing!  If you are just starting out here, welcome and enjoy the ride!  Be sure to stop by all of the blogs to check out the cool cards we have for you today.

Our mission this week was to use color resist in some way and since I don't have the new Color Me Irresistible DSP,  I went with heat embossed color resist.

Best Thoughts by Be Creative with Nicole

Since watercolor has been something I worked with this week, I combined it with the resist technique and I love the results!

Color resist with Best Thoughts

Having the heat embossed image allowed me to freely add color with my Aqua Painter and ink.  I went right over the edges and added color outside the lines for a soft and pretty look.  There are several layers of color, especially on the flower petals.  I layered Soft Sky all over the card very lightly then went back in with deeper tones of Lost Lagoon and Night of Navy to bring the flower to life.  The stem was layered as well with Wild Wasabi since it coordinated so beautifully with the blues.

Best Thoughts with Color Resist Technique

The toughest part of this card was the sentiment!  I wanted it to be soft and blend in, so I ended up adding a sentiment from Cottage Greetings.   It was heat embossed on a strip of watercolor paper then Lost Lagoon ink was added to make the words visible.  I love how beautiful this card turned out and hope you are feeling inspired!

Now it's time to head over and see what Debbie Henderson has for us today, I know it will be amazing!
